BBB International and MEP Sander Smit Visit Aeres University of Applied Sciences Dronten
In cooperation with BBB Europe, BBB Flevoland, student association USRA and Aeres University of Applied Sciences Dronten, the BBB International Foundation organized an informative day on the university’s campus. The central theme was strengthening the connection between students, education and European politics.
During the visit, Member of the European Parliament Sander Smit explained the functioning and structure of the European Parliament. Students gained insight into how European decision making influences themes that play a significant role within their studies and future professional fields, such as agriculture, sustainability and innovation.
In addition to the exchange of knowledge, the delegation of the BBB International Foundation and Sander Smit were given a tour of the university by Director Jolanda Berntsen, who introduced them to Aeres’ practice oriented educational approach. Aeres operates a council based system in which students learn to take responsibility through council committees, allowing them to gain administrative experience alongside their studies. Discussions were held with lecturers, faculty staff and students about international internships, the position of international students and future prospects within an increasingly interconnected European labour market.

Aeres University of Applied Sciences is a Dutch knowledge institution focused on education, research and practical training in the fields of nature, food, sustainability and living environment.
